My brilliant ideas for burlesque continue.  I’ve decided nerdy burlesque is probably my favorite.  Hot women, nerdy themes, it makes me feel right at home.  I can geek out while everyone else just gets turned on.  Nah, there is both across the room.  I don’t know what I’m saying… Anyway, tonight’s show was lacking three major fandoms - Joss Whedon, X Files and Star...

So I’m turning into a real burlesque junkie.  Then again I’m going to support my friends, but also because the world is just fun.  Meeting people is turning out well.  I’m thinking I should kitten.  That would be fun I think.  Get all adorable and be a little entertainment.  Gotta get over that stage fright… My first professional costume piece went over fantastic.  Violet...

Successful day planning costumes for the lovely Miss Violet Deville.  She’s fantastic and she’s hiring me to work on her wind-up doll costume.  I’ll be working on a top for her which includes arms that look like doll parts.  I’m excited.  Black, mesh, purple, stripes and a little steam.  Couldn’t be more fun.  All I need is my sewing machine.

Productive Saturday was productive. I spent the morning making a leather apron and a small fascinator for my crafting class and the evening building costumes for my friends burlesque routines. This is the third evening Ive spent here this week but I finished two pueces and most of a third. We ran out of the snaps necessary so I had to stop. I’m on a costuming role! I should just get...

Captain Liberty - The Tick
New costume idea. Captain Liberty from The Tick She is a little obscure since she’s not a major super hero from one of the big guys, but she’s fun and she has sass and she’s hot.   Reference Images: Resources: Leotard: Making one of your own

So, I went to see my friends do their burlesque thing last night and I came back with ideas.  All the ladies had themes, or signatures.  I think it was the 60s styled dress I was wearing, but I thought it would be fun to have as a routine something era specific.  The 50s housewife, the 60s Gogo, the 20s flapper, the 40s pin up, even sexy victorian.  It would be fun and right in my costuming...

Gem Update
I’m getting excited for my Tron costume now.  I think I might have figured out how to light it up properly.  I’m still worried about wiring being close to the body but the LED strip lighting comes with a waterproof sleeve.   This is going to be a crazy project but so much fun.   I’m not entirely sure how I plan on altering the shoes I found.  I know I have to do some cutting...

Here is an interesting proposition my friend just came up with, he asked me to help costume the burlesque girls he works with. Basically, help the girls make their costumes more efficient and figure out any special tricks they may wnt to do. It could be fun. Don’t be surprised to see more burlesque information here as well as my tricks and tips. I think I may need to make a trip to...

Irene Adler - Sherlock Master Post
So, its that time in fandom again where I come up with a new cosplay I’m dying to do.  This time its the lovely and brilliantly clever Irene Adler from the BBCs Sherlock. Now, she has a variety of looks which will have to be picked from but there is something about her that is just delicious. Reference Photos: Costume Pieces: White Dress Pattern (With some modifications):...

I now have more concrete plans for Labyrinth costumes.  I have a friend who wants me to help him make the Jareth ball outfit for a summer wedding.  I think I’ve narrowed my interest for a costume down to the ball outfit, the red leather jacket or the classic throne room outfit.  While I love the white costume the cape is going to be crazy.  Finding places that sell synthetic bone is tough...

Ghost Story
Something about this place felt wrong.  Becky could see the ground in front of her.  It sparkled in the dim and hazy light.  Helena stood in front of her.  She had appeared in a silent, dark flash.     “Come with me,” Helena said without words.  Another hand took Becky’s arm leading her forward.  The path under her feet became rough.  A rat passed in the darkness, nails clicking.  Thick fog...

The Goblin King - Labyrinth Master Post
So, post GeekGirlCon I’m completely inspired to make costumes again.  On my list now Jareth from Labyrinth. Isn’t he fabulous? I adore this movie, and since we had a big giant Labyrinth sing along to end the con and there was a brilliant Jareth there on Saturday I’m completely inspired.  I’ve been looking at wigs, patterns, and most importantly the spandex leggings. My...
